Questions before I decide...(III) The visa permits
by Juandelc 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Now we go with the Third one, i assume that my company will take care of this,... but in my experience, is allways worthy having "second Opinion on All".

Are there hidden tricks on the permits?,

Any problems depending on your nationality.

What is the normal lenght of the visa.. 1 year, 2 years,.... 5 years?

Mny questions at once, here some answers WITHOUT any warranties:
Vietnam is actually really open to every Nationality, so there seem to be in my experiences yet, no issues of a rejection based on Nationality.
Standard visas, e.g. tourist or business seem to be general easy availbale and cover the standard periods and conditions:
tourist: 3/6 month, with or without multiple entry
business: 3/6 month, with or without multiple entry, but is requirement for a work permit, in case you want/need to work
then there are resident visa, for which you may have to fulfillcertain criteria, based on nationality
and then another officil visa is the family visa, again with wit or without multiple entries and based on certain criteria, marriage e.t.c..
apparently there are other visas available, 1 year and up to even 5 years, but they are given only to certain people, which have a history in supporting/developing Vietnam and not requstable.
Business and tourist Visa can be renewed relatievely easy via a travel agent (I would recommend). It may take however some days and a bit extra costs, as not every visa or length is renewed on every place (In my case, local I can renew only 2 month but in HCMC I get my full 6 month)
A small catch on renewing:
as soon it's stamped, your old visa is expiered, e.g. you give your passport 2 weeks prior running out and it is stamped maybee the same day, you loose the last 2 weeks on the old visa

it is also possible to "switch" a visa whilst renewing. Just be aware, that not every visa service does supply every service

Dear Tak1963,

First of all thank you very much for your quick answer, it is very helpfull.

As i told on my first email, i assume that my company will arrange all the Resident permits, etc, as i will be staying in Vietnam for an indefinite period, therefore i suppose that i will have to apply for one of this "FOREIGNER RESIDENT VISAS" and for my Spouse and 2 children too.

Without compromise can you give me Hints on the Criteria, coz in some websites they put that Top Managment of Foreigh invested companies have it more easy... but i don't really know if that is As "simple" as it appears on this websites. So.. What are those criterias... i am going to go and visit the Vietnamese embassy in Spain today... so i am looking forward to have as much info as i could.

My recommendation is to have your office in Vietnam arrange the visa for you. They could get the 6 months multiple entry one and when you are here you can arrange the resident visa as to enable you to get the resident visa you should have your work permit first, without the work permit or work contract with your company here you can not apply for resident visa. Everyone can apply for work permit and resident visa providing that one can provide all the requested documentation. When you are applying for your own resident visa you can do the same for your wife and children. Hope this help

Atoz,

Sorry for my late response on this. But this also applies to General Managers?... My last destination in Hong Kong, if you have a permit, automatically they give it to your wife and children.. does it work this way here?
